15. Rocket Richard’s two front teeth

In a rare occurrence of a hockey guy losing his teeth off the ice and not from a puck or a stick, Maurice “Rocket” Richard chipped his two front teeth drinking from the Stanley Cup in 1957.

This has to be the ultimate tooth-chipping experience in the NHL. We’ve heard countless stories of players losing teeth in every way imaginable, but this is one way that would make the player happier than anyone should be after losing teeth.

Chipping your tooth on the Stanley Cup is like stubbing your toe on a coffee table made of gold or pulling a hamstring playing laser tag. Sure, it hurts, but you are obviously living your best life.

The pain is secondary to the joy you feel as

the laser noise fires from the gun into the opposing player’s vest

you lift the Cup up to your mouth for a swig of beer and in your excitement, you bring it up a little too quickly.

Like many on this list, Rocket Richard had himself a storied career. He won eight Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens and was popular enough in Montreal that a suspension he got for retaliating against a Boston Bruins slash was enough to send the city of Montreal into a full blown riot.

Needless to say, chipping teeth on the Cup is probably one of Richard’s cherished memories, given some of the crazier things he has seen.
