J.J. Watt is now a doctor, and he now needs a nickname

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has an extremely impressive resume. He is a former first-round draft pick, four-time Pro Bowler, four-time First-team All-Pro, Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year recipient, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and now a doctor.

On Tuesday evening, Watt showed off his snazzy outfit and his honorary degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Watt was honored for his contributions towards the city of Houston after the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey last year. His fundraiser raised over $37 million, when he originally set a goal of $200,000. As a result of his charitable efforts, he was one of Sports Illustrated’s 2017 Sportsperson of the Year recipients.

The 6-foot-5 playmaker joked on Twitter about the possibility of adding MD to the back of his jersey next season. Although, that is unlikely, it is very likely that people will be referring to him differently after receiving his doctorate.

In his rookie season, former teammate Connor Barwin gave Watt the nickname, “The Milk Man.” The reason behind the name, was because according to Barwin, Watt always delivers. Now, it’s appropriate to start thinking about new nicknames after his latest accomplishment.

I can’t take credit for this name, thank you Josh Hill (FanSided Senior Editor), but Dr. Doom is the perfect nickname for Watt. On the field Watt is a beast. Despite only playing in eight total games the last two season, he has tallied 310 tackles, 76 sacks and 15 forced fumbles.

Any quarterback or lineman that faces Watt knows they are doomed going head to head against the dynamic rusher. He has the strength and athleticism to get around any blocker and wreak havoc in the backfield.

Also, Watt and the original Dr. Doom, Victor von Doom, a marvel character have similar characteristics. According to marvel.com, Doom is a natural leader, a brilliant strategist and a sly deceiver. Watt is definitely a natural leader and a brilliant strategist. The biggest difference between the two, Watt would be considered a superhero whereas Dr. Doom is a supervillain.

Sticking with the marvel theme, another nickname for Watt could be Captain America. A notable similarity is that they both wear red, white and blue uniforms.

The two have done a tremendous job serving the country. In addition to helping the city of Houston after Hurricane Harvey, Watt has recently announced that he would pay for the funeral of victims in the Santa Fe High School shooting. Watt continues to use his NFL stardom and power to help those in need and make the world a better place.

Nevertheless, whether you want to call Watt, Dr. Doom, Captain America or any other name he is a true role model and has proved he is much more than just a football player.
