Rays at A’s

Rays Probable Starter – Nathan Eovaldi, RHP

Season Debut

Eovaldi is on his way back from an elbow injury but I wouldn’t play him. As has been the case with season debuts coming off injury, I refuse to touch him. That’s worked out in some cases like Alex Cobb for the Orioles while other times we’ve missed on guys like Joe Musgrove.  I’ll take my chances and miss a potential good game from Eovaldi. If we don’t want him, Oakland batters could be a route to go this evening. Eovaldi was a little worse to lefties last season but the split wasn’t too significant. Jed Lowrie and Matt Olson are both priced very fairly and would be the places I would look if playing A’s. You could talk me into Dustin Fowler as a super cheap option if I need the savings.

A’s Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Jed Lowrie, Matt Olson

Secondary Options – Dustin Fowler, Jonathan Lucroy

A’s Probable Starter – Sean Manaea, LHP

3.34 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 18.9 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .222 average, .291 wOBA, 31.8 fly ball rate and 14.9 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .201 average, .263 wOBA, 34.4 fly ball rate and 45.1 hard contact rate

The Rays are quietly in a decent spot again tonight since Manaea has really hit the skids. He’s allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last five starts. It’s no wonder his ERA has taken a huge leap. Manaea has displayed some reverse splits so far this season but I’m just going to stick with the best hitters for the Rays. You don’t want to go too far off the beaten path in this offense. C.J. Cron is probably the best play but is the most “expensive” at $3,400. Daniel Robertson is cheap and has hit lefties well so far this season. In addition, Wilson Ramos is under $3,000 and people tend to not play catchers on FanDuel is the don’t have to.
