Marlins at Padres

Marlins Probable Starter – Jose Urena, RHP

4.69 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 19.6 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .267 average, .328 wOBA, 30.9 fly ball rate and 43.2 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .232 average, .290 wOBA, 29.1 fly ball rate and 4.0 hard contact rate

I really wish I could get on board with the Padres lineup tonight but I just can’t do it. Granted, they cost me the slate last night because they knocked Dan Straily around but given the amount of offenses in good spots, I’m not hitching my wagon to San Diego. Urena has been worse against lefties and that would put you onto Eric Hosmer and Travis Jankowski. Both of these players are on the cheaper side for what they can bring to the table. This whole game is gross and really isn’t on my radar.

Padres Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Eric Hosmer, Travis Jankowski

Padres Probable Starter – Clayton Richard, LHP

4.97 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 19.8 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .218 average, .269 wOBA, 10.3 fly ball rate and 26.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .276 average, .350 wOBA, 25.3 fly ball rate and 42.2 hard contact rate

I really have no interest in Richard, even though he’s not facing the hardest matchup and he’s at home in a pitcher’s park. Seemingly every time I’ve targeted a pitcher against the Marlins offense, the Fish come through and ruin my night. Richard is a ground ball specialist and the only way you can try to attack him is with righty bats. J.T. Realmuto would be fine but I can’t see paying $3,500 for him on this slate. The upside is just too dicey. As I said, I can’t get behind anyone involved in this game with too much confidence.
