30 college football head coaches cooler than your coolest uncle

One of the more surprising hires of the off-season came by way of the Arizona State Sun Devils bringing in a well-known TV personality in Herm Edwards as the head coach following the departure of Todd Graham.

In fact, both of the big time programs in the sunshine state have some new high-profile head coach hirings between Kevin Sumlin with the Arizona Wildcats and Edwards coming into Tempe, AZ. Edwards was a very interesting hire since Arizona State could have gone with a safer option for a head coach.

However, this should make for some entertaining press conferences and recruiting stories throughout the course of the off-season. Few coaches were more entertaining even in the NFL, while he was there with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, than Herman.

Now, he’ll take that polarizing factor to the college football world and we’ll hope to at least get some memorable moments out of this whole thing. He has a nice offense coming back to campus in Tempe this fall highlighted by quarterback Manny Wilkins and star wide receiver N’keal Harry.
