30 college football head coaches cooler than your coolest uncle
The first year for Minnesota Golden Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck did not go as planned in the Big Ten West. His end with the Western Michigan Broncos was about as good as it gets, and he could end up building the same thing with the Golden Gophers.
However, Minnesota became dug into mediocrity in the Big Ten for the past decade. It would take a lot from Fleck to establish this program as a consistent contender in the Big Ten. However, he could be headed down the road to contending with the likes of the Wisconsin Badgers and Iowa Hawkeyes in the West division.
It wasn’t just the way that Fleck established the program with Western Michigan, but also the culture in the locker room. His players bought in 100 percent to the system and culture he was trying to instill, and that’s the end goal for his coaching staff with the Minnesota football program.
Most coaches who make that jump from a ton of success at a solid Group of Five program have the chance to ultimately elevate the Power Five program they end up at. Minnesota fans are hoping for just that out of Fleck for the upcoming season.
