One of the most telling signs of a popular head coach comes on the recruiting trail. That’s exactly the display of how much some players really like playing for the head coach of the Washington Huskies in Chris Petersen. Following his departure from the Boise State Broncos, Petersen took a middling UW squad and turned it into one of the consistently best programs in the Pac-12.

UW even made its first appearance in the College Football Playoff during the 2016 campaign, taking the program to new heights entirely. That same season Petersen also knocked off the Colorado Buffaloes from the Pac-12 South to bring back a Pac-12 Championship to Seattle.

Now, Petersen has an interesting debacle on his hands with possibly the deepest quarterback depth chart in the nation. The Huskies have four quality quarterbacks between the rising senior projected starter Jake Browning, former Georgia Bulldogs transfer Jacob Eason, and two highly-touted four-star incoming freshmen recruits.

This should be a very interesting season for Petersen and the Huskies, as this program could be the Pac-12 favorite officially entering Week 1. Another popular and underrated head coach, with the Stanford Cardinal, in David Shaw, could be the biggest competitor for Petersen this fall.
