Nashville Predators: Carrie Underwood

In my opinion, one of the best parts about football season is seeing Carrie Underwood sing the opening theme for Sunday Night Football every week.

But in reality, the country music star is more of a hockey person. That may or may not have something to do with the fact that her husband is Mike Fisher, who formerly played for the Nashville Predators. Before his retirement, Fisher served as the captain of the Predators. He officially announced his retirement before the start of the 2017-18 season, becoming the first Predators captain to retire with the team.

However, he came back midway through the season to help the Predators make a playoff push, then retired again after they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. During Fisher’s seven years in Nashville, his wife Underwood was frequently spotted at Predators games, often completely decked out in Mike Fisher paraphernalia, to the surprise of nobody.

Underwood first met Fisher while he was playing for the Ottawa Senators. They married in 2010, and less than a year later, Fisher was conveniently traded to Nashville, which just happens to be Underwood’s home as a country singer. Underwood witnessed her husband make plenty of trips to Stanley Cup playoffs, even reaching the Final in 2017 before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. Unfortunately, he never got to bring home the big one.

Now that Fisher is officially retired from the NHL again, it’s hard to tell how many future appearances Underwood will be making at Predators games.
