2. Mario Hezonja

Hezonja was mostly a massive disappointment during his time with the Magic, so much so that they declined his fourth-year rookie option, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer. Still, Hezonja had a 16-game stretch from late January to early March where low stakes and opportunity coalesced into a reminder of the talent that made him a high lottery pick — 14.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game, shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 40.5 percent on 3-pointers.

The Nets rotation is flush with perimeter shooters and secondary ball-handlers but Hezonja has size, potential and could possibly be had for next to nothing. The Nets are still in the space where it’s worth taking a risk on an unlikely star emerging, especially if the opportunity cost is low. It’s hard to tell how many suitors Hezonja will have this summer but the Nets should definitely be calling.
