MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: June 1st

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with New York (5.8), Los Angeles (5.8), Colorado (5.8), Oakland (5), and Arizona (4.9), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers like Stephen Strasburg, Gerrit Cole, and Chris Sale available, finding value will be critical for success on tonight’s slate. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.

Batted Ball Data

Jay Bruce – DK $3200, FD $3000

Jay Bruce is an attractive value play on DraftKings tonight at only $3200. This is down $500 from his highest price in late May. While his production has been down a bit, his batted ball stats may indicate that positive regression is on its way. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 17 feet, his exit velocity is up 2 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 14%, over his yearly average. Bruce will also be on the good side of a lefty vs. righty matchup tonight.

Batter Splits

Justin Turner – DK $4600, FD $4100

Not only will Dodgers’ batters benefit from the trip to Coors Field, but righties like Justin Turner will have an advantageous matchup against the lefty, Tyler Anderson. Turner is much better against left-handed pitching, with a .548 wOBA split (.213 better than when facing a righty) and a .438 ISO split (.286 better than when facing a righty).

Brandon Nimmo – DK $4000, FD $3500

Like Bruce, Brandon Nimmo should benefit from facing the righty, Tyler Chatwood. Nimmo is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .409 wOBA split (.133 better than when facing a lefty) and a .218 ISO split (.142 better than when facing a lefty). Nimmo has been raking in the past few weeks, and while he is expensive, he’s a batter to consider if you have the available salary.

MLB DFS Picks – Line Movement

NY Mets Batters

New York will host the visiting Chicago Cubs, in a game in which the Cubs opened as a -140 favorite. Since opening, this line has move drastically, and the Mets are now slight favorites, at -110. In addition to the movement on the side, the total has also risen. The total opened at 8.5 runs and is up a half of a run, to 9 total runs. Tyler Chatwood has failed to get out of the second inning in each of his last two starts, and this may carry over to tonight’s matchup against the Mets.

MIA Batters

Miami will be on the road, as the face the Diamondbacks, in Arizona tonight. Arizona opened as a -170 favorite, but has been bet down to where the currently sit, as only -133 favorites. In addition to this movement towards the Marlins, the total has also risen. The total opened at 8.5 runs, but has moved up a half of a run to a total of 9 runs. As always, weather conditions in Arizona tend to give batters a boost and it looks as if it could be a hot one tonight, with temperatures around 98 degrees, during play.

Stolen Base Upside:

Dee Gordon – DK $4000, FD $3300

Speedster, Dee Gordon, will draw an attractive matchup against the righty, Sergio Romo. Romo has been susceptible to base runners, allowing four stolen bases over the course of just 21.1 innings this year. This should bode well for Gordon, as he currently sits in second for stolen bases, with 16.
