Welcome to the FanDuel MLB Daily Lineups column for Saturday, June 2nd 2018. This is the Main slate edition. We’re a fantasy baseball column focused on helping you build a DFS MLB optimal lineup for each slate.

With seven games locked into the Early Only FanDuel MLB slate already, we have eight remaining games this evening to consider for the Main slate. Unlike the earlier games, tonight’s match ups are a little easier to figure out.

Unfortunately, like the Early Only slate, we do have some weather issues to consider, which we’ll get to at the bottom of this page. However, we’ll provide multiple options for tonights slate for both the pitcher and offensive stacking positions.

It’s possible you may need to keep an eye on the weather and either have a pivot lineup ready, or just start with that one and move to the riskier one if things clear up.

Before we get there, a reminder to never take a DFS MLB optimal lineup as ‘bible’ for your personal lineup each day. Use the suggestions as guidance. Also, make sure you follow final lineup thoughts throughout the day on our twitter account @FantasyCPR or me @mattymcmatt17 look for late breaking lineup news.

Weather Note: OK, more news that many DFS MLB optimal lineups builders dread. For most of the day, it appeared the Cubs and Mets game at Citi Field could be in the clear. But as the day went on, it now looks as though we could have some significant rain at or after game time start.

But, it’s not certain. And there’s a play we really like in that game, so we’ll talk about that, but the fade option as well. Regardless, we either recommend fading this game or having a pivot lineup ready to go.

With weather-related considerations addressed, let’s get to the top pitching options…

FanDuel MLB: Top Pitcher Main Slate

Weather issues aside, I’ve debated with fellow DFS FantasyCPR writers today about whether we go with Jacob deGrom ($10,600) tonight, or find a safer pick. To deGrom or not deGrom, is the FanDuel MLB Main slate slogan for tonight.

Yes, the Mets have a tough Cubs lineup in a muggy Citi Field tonight. But deGrom is pitching on another level right now. Jake has managed to pitch seven innings in each of his last three games, and fanned eight to 13 batters in those games. He only gave up a combined two earned runs during that time as well.

If it weren’t for the Mets terrible bullpen, deGrom would’ve had a win in all three games. deGrom is managing to keep the hits under one per inning, and he’s walking hardly any hitters. So we’re getting a 50 to 60 FanDuel MLB point pitcher with 70+ ceiling on an honestly reasonable $10.6K salary.

When I originally started building my lineup and writing this column, I was honestly more sold on Zack Greinke ($9,100), but only because he’s the safer bet. Greinke is a solid 30 to 40 guy, with some 40 to 50 upside, but below the point potential we’ll get from deGrom.

Still, with Zack we’re getting a 27.1% K-rate with a very low 3.8% walk rate and 1.04 WHIP. Greinke has had home run rate struggles this season, but he’s facing a Marlins offense with a miserable 77 wRC+ against RHP’s this season, and 24% K-rate. So Greinke is a great play, regardless, tonight. But deGrom is the high-point risky play.

FanDuel MLB: Top Hitting Stacks Main Slate

We like several stacks tonight, but one four-man stack we’re targeting is a team we’ve been playing for their entire current home series. The Padres host the Reds again tonight in PetCo Park. While neither team is an offensive juggernaut, they’re also facing pitchers with home run vulnerability and run potential. And, each team has been hot with their bat in San Diego this week.

Regardless of whether you have deGrom or Greinke in your lineup at the pitcher spot, you can still afford some of the better Padres hitters like Eric Hosmer ($3,500), Jose Pirela ($3,300), and Christian Villanueva ($3,600) against last-chance Matt Harvey.

Still, you’ll need to find some value from at least one or two picks in your Padres stack to afford your top pitcher pick of the night. But, we also like the Reds against Eric Lauer tonight. Adam Duvall ($2,900) has a terrible average, but he’s a long-ball hitter with a home run opportunity. Jose Peraza ($3,200) is also an affordable, and efficient, offensive option.

Finally, while we can’t also have the Phillies stacked in our lineup against Andrew Suarez and the Giants, we could at least consider a mini-stack between a couple of value picks from the Phillies, like Odubel Herrera ($2,800), and the Reds.

FanDuel MLB: Summary and Example Lineup

Before we jump into the summary, our standard last thought. Jose Bautista ($2,600) had temporary fan-fare with the DFS MLB community when he joined the Mets. For the most part, the excitement has tailed off.

However, tonight the right-handed hitter is facing lefty Mike Montgomery in a favorable situation in Citi Field. Also, Bautista has already been confirmed at the three-spot of the lineup. So, we’re likely plugging Jose into all of our lineups for this slate.

With that in mind, we’re going with either deGrom or Greinke at the pitcher spot tonight. For offensive stacks, we’re starting with a full stack of the Padres, while incorporating some mini stacks with the Phillies and/or Reds. Along with Bautista, this lineup has sneaky good, to great, potential for the FanDuel MLB Main slate.

With that summary in mind, here’s a look at a sample lineup for the MAIN FanDuel MLB slate on Saturday, June 2nd:
