4. Quinten Rollins

Rollins played just six games last year due to an Achilles’ injury. A raw prospect coming out of Miami of Ohio, where he also played basketball, Rollins enters the final year of his rookie contract with three interceptions on his resume and something to prove.

The Packers clearly addressed the secondary again in April’s draft, selecting corners Jaire Alexander (first round, No. 18 overall) and Josh Jackson (second round, No. 45 overall) to go with cornerback Kevin King and safety Josh Jones from the 2017 draft. Cornerback Tramon Williams was also brought back in free agency, to provide a veteran presence and at least compete for a starting job. Rollins, quite frankly, could be a fit in a cornerback/safety hybrid role similar to what Micah Hyde filled before departing via free agency in 2017.

Injuries like the one Rollins had last year can be chalked up to bad fortune. But if he needed extra motivation to refine his game and show something during OTAs, training camp and preseason games, two more drafted corners to bump him down the pecking order for snaps has to provide it. The Packers are trying to throw numbers at their problem on the back end defensively, so Rollins has to step up his game to remain in the mix.
