The Cowboys are going to rely on a lot of new faces in 2018. Here are five bold predictions about what Dallas fans will see next season.

The preseason goal for the Dallas Cowboys is always the same. The historic franchise only celebrates Super Bowl titles so that’s what the team aims at on an annual basis. If Dallas is going to reach the promised land in 2018, they’re going to need help from a lot of new faces.

In particular, Dak Prescott’s receiving corps will look much different this season. Dez Bryant was released and Jason Witten finally retired. Unfortunately, the front office didn’t do a lot to replace either star. That means Prescott will have to lift up a new group of receivers with his arm talent this year.

It’s a safe bet that everything won’t go according to plan. Some players will outperform expectations and some will fall short of their goals. This pieces examines five bold predictions for the Cowboys’ 2018 campaign. We start out with a receiver who might step up and surprise a lot of people.

5. Michael Gallup will end the season as a starter

The aforementioned departure of Dez Bryant leaves a pretty big hole at receiver for the Cowboys. Deonte Thompson and Terrance Williams will get the first shot to serve as Prescott’s starting receivers. Don’t be surprised of Gallup usurps them by season’s end.

Gallup was a prolific receiver for Colorado State last season. He caught 100 balls for over 1,400 yards for the Rams. Of course, he’ll face a big adjustment to life in the NFL.

That’s why this projection is about Gallup becoming a starter by the end of the year. His overall athleticism is going to overtake his inexperience at some point. When you watch him on the film you see a receiver who does a lot of things pretty well. He’s never going to be a star, but his ability to run crisp routes will make him a prime target for Prescott by season’s end.
