Washington Capitals fans are on the verge of celebrating their first-ever Stanley Cup win, and a workplace dress code isn’t going to stop them from expressing their glee.

Lindsey, like any diehard Washington Capitals fan who lives in Washington, D.C., is pumped about her team’s chance to clinch its first-ever Stanley Cup win Thursday night against the Vegas Golden Knights.

But Lindsey, also like many diehard Washington Capitals fans, has to work today, and her employer, trade association, has a strict no jerseys policy as part of its dress code.

“We lobby a lot on Capitol Hill, hence the dress code,” Lindsey explains.

But like any good lobbyist, Lindsey found a loophole.

Behold her homemade Washington Capitals dress in all its glory. Classy, yet Caps-y!

“It’s the first dress I’ve ever made and I kinda just eyeballed off of a dress that I currently have that fits me well,” Lindsey, who ordered the themed fabric from the JOANN Fabrics website.

Fellow Caps fan Kelly LaNelle chimed in to say that her grandmother even made her a quilt using the same fabric:

Did Lindsey’s coworkers have anything to say about her brilliant sartorial solution?

“I’ve gotten positive feedback from coworkers, even from the ones that don’t like hockey,” she says.

Lindsey’s dedication to her team — and to learning how to use a sewing machine — is definitely a Fandom 250 moment. Capitals fans have shown up and shown our for their team this year, and we’re taking note of it for our annual ranking of the best fandoms across sports, entertainment, pop culture and more.

Lindsey, let us know if you open a hockey workwear Etsy shop. Asking for a friend.
