Kevin Durant won his second consecutive NBA Finals MVP award. In doing so, he avoided inclusion on this ignominious list.

With the Warriors’ victory in the 2018 NBA Finals seeming like a foregone conclusion before the series even began, much of the drama has centered around who would win Finals MVP. Would Kevin Durant win his second in two years or would Curry finally win his first Finals MVP after missing out following his first two championships? As this discussion got louder, it quickly began to seem bizarre that Curry had not won a Finals MVP despite his astounding accomplishments, both in the regular season and in the Playoffs. Would Curry become the best player in NBA history to win a championship, but not a Finals MVP? Well, it turns out this would not have been as rare as many assume for if he fails to win a Finals MVP, it would hardly be a blight on his illustrious career considering the company he’s in.
