Did LeBron just play his last game with the Cavaliers?

After the Golden State Warriors took care of the Cavaliers for a third title in four years. The question for the rest of the summer will be where is LeBron going to play basketball next season?

The Cleveland Cavaliers have two seasons, the regular season and the playoffs. That is the case all the time, but this time was different. The Cavs fielded what felt like three different teams this season.

The only constant this season for the Cavs was LeBron James. He played in all 82 games during the regular season for the first time in his career, all while leading the NBA in minutes.

It took a multitude of legendary playoff performances by James just to get the team to the NBA Finals, but in the end we all knew they really never stood a chance against the juggernaut that is the Golden State Warriors. LeBron exited to a standing ovation but love from the fans may not be enough to keep him.

Now the question this summer will be where is LeBron James going to play basketball next season?

James has a $35 million dollar player option that he can pick up for next season, and just stay in Cleveland. Either that or he can opt out and just sign a new contract with the Cavs, but that would be too easy now wouldn’t it?

Rumors have already swirled around about Chris Paul recruiting James to play for the Houston Rockets next season, and given Darryl Morey’s willingness to pay the luxury tax Houston is an option for next year.

Also in the cards for James is the Philadelphia 76ers with their youthful core of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. A third option and probably the most popular one on the table is the Los Angeles Lakers in a possible team-up with someone like Paul George.

Wherever he decides to play next season that team would automatically become Finals contenders given the fact that James has that affect. It might be until after the draft and free agency settles down before James decides, but we will all be tuned in waiting.
