MLB DFS Bargain Bin- Tout Transparency Report for Tuesday, June 12th Value Plays
MLB DFS Bargain Bin- Tout Transparency Report for Tuesday, June 12
Time for a look back at how Tuesday’s MLB DFS Bargain Bin play suggestions did in the MLB DFS Bargain Bin Tout Transparency Report.
In the interest of transparency and of tracking trends, I’ll do a quick review after each day in which I suggest value plays to see what went right, and what didn’t exactly work out as planned.
Unfortunately, as productive as Monday was, the MLB gods felt the need to even things out a bit Tuesday! A parade of zeros with respect to most of the suggested value bats was the norm throughout the night, with the Angels (outside of Mike Trout, who naturally, wasn’t a value play) particularly coming up short.
Another confounding aspect of Tuesday’s slate was that two pitchers who’d regularly been getting hammered – Sal Romano and Ian Kennedy – suddenly decided to put on their best Cy Young impersonations. Consequently, a game with an implied run total of well over 9 went into extras knotted at 1-1. Credit to both starting pitchers, who consistently defied the metrics that I’d identified as rendering them highly vulnerable through their respective eight-inning masterpieces.
As much of a pitcher’s duel as that game was, however, about the only redeeming production came in the form of the Reds’ Scott Schebler, who contributed the one multi-hit effort of my suggestions.
On the pitcher end of things, the Jays’ Jaime Garcia wasn’t completely awful, but his trademark control issues hurt him to an extent, running his pitch count up to a robust 101 over five-plus frames. Garcia had allowed a respectable two runs through five, but he got himself into trouble by allowing a walk and double to open the sixth. Consequently, he was charged with another pair of runs when those baserunners subsequently crossed the plate after he’d gotten the hook.
As anyone who’s played DFS for any appreciable length of time, “momma said there’d be days (nights) like this!”. All that can be done is to pick up, dust off and move on to the next opportunity.
MLB DFS Bargain Bin Best Value(s):
Schebler prevents total washout– Schebler started the game with a single in his first at-bat and repeated the feat in his final one, crossing the plate with a run as well in Cincy’s four-run 10th inning.
MLB DFS Bargain Bin Biggest Dud(s):
Where to begin?– The Mariners’ Mike Leake baffled the Angels for six innings, and only Mike Trout showed any signs of real life for LA on the night. Value suggestions Albert Pujols and Martin Maldonado struck out three times on the night between them, while Zack Cozart’s walk was the only thing saving him from a blanking as well.
Let’s now look at a player-by-player fantasy-point breakdown for each value play I’d suggested for Tuesday, June 12th:
