Texas Rangers

Corbin Burnes, SP

The Rangers were unable to put it together this year, sitting solidly out of the playoff race already. They need to break things down and build for the future. Right now, they could benefit from adding more pitching depth to their farm system.

Thankfully, they have good trade bait in Cole Hamels who can be trade to a team in win now mode. The Brewers are a team built for right now who could benefit from adding a great starting pitcher like Hamels. They also have the 60th best prospect in the MLB in Corbin Burnes who won’t be needed this year.

The Rangers should try to get Burnes from the Brewers. This is a guy, who despite is gaudy ERA this year, has a career WHIP of 1.10 in the minors. He can get batters out, and with plenty of pitching contracts expiring this year for the Rangers, they could use a AAA pitcher who can join the team next year.

Adding Burnes to their minor league system will truly help the Rangers. He is the type of player who impresses those who watch him as he has ascended to AAA in 2 years. He’s moving up quickly for a reason, and the Rangers can get him before he breaks into the big leagues.
