HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – FEBRUARY 25: Jacob Evans /

Evans is as much of a 3-and-D prospect that NBA teams are going to find in the draft. Measuring in just under 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, he’s got the size and length to play at the 2-guard position alongside Donovan Mitchell.

Evans was part of a Cincinnati team that was one of the best defensive squads in the country. With Gary Clark patrolling the paint, Evans was able to menace opponents on the perimeter, using his strength and basketball IQ to harass guards into turnovers and missing shots. Watching him on defense is a joy, as guards bounce off him trying to get a shoulder past him, only to have him sneak his hands onto the ball, poking it free to create a transition opportunity for him and his teammates.

Evans will need to improve his shooting off screens to be an elite 3-and-D option, but he’s already able to catch and shoot from behind the arc. Like Okogie, he was one of the ballhandlers for the Bearcats on offense, but that’s a role he likely won’t have to replicate if he was drafted by the Jazz.
