Chicago Bears leak new alternate threads for 2018

For 2018, the Chicago Bears are reviving a famed element of their history — but with a new twist.

Expectations are high for the Chicago Bears in 2018. New head coach Matt Nagy is preaching a winning atmosphere with energy and good vibes. Last year’s 2nd overall pick Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears’ quarterback of the future now has a year under his belt and is expected to take a big step forward in his development.

The front office made a big splash in free agency. The big move was giving a three-year, $42 million dollar deal to former Jacksonville receiver Allen Robinson. Chicago also added weapons for Trubisky in the form of tight end Trey Burton and receiver Taylor Gabriel.

The Bears also plan to accompany these changes with the revival of an old classic of the organization’s — the orange alternate jersey. Yeah, those ones that Brian Urlacher and Devin Hester donned in the 2000s.

The uniforms were expected to be revealed on Friday, but they were leaked Thursday on the team’s mobile app.

It’s tough to imagine anyone complaining about the new look. It’s a sharp, clean uniform emphasizing the team’s secondary color – with a modern aura to it. The orange jerseys are a nod to the ones that were in the Bears’ repertoire for much of the franchise’s history. After Nike took over the NFL’s uniform licensing in 2012, the orange threads were put on the back burner for six seasons.

The Bears’ official Twitter account posted the following hype video prior to the release.

The Bears’ reference to the Urlacher-Hester days – the last time the team was particularly competitive – makes sense. They hope to achieve that label again in 2018, with a drastically-improved roster and a motivated head coach.
