CFL players blows up fan who ran on the field

A BC Lions fan decided to run onto the field for the team’s home opener and got absolutely laid out by Lions defensive back Marcell Young.

Running on the field at a sporting event is always a bad idea. Ultimately, almost everyone who does get tackled by security guards, charged and often banned from the stadium. Yet year after year, fans don’t learn the lesson.

A fan decided to interrupt the BC Lions home opener against the Montreal Alouettes and paid a heavy price. The fan from the end zone to the 45-yard line with security unable to catch him. With a seriously out of shape and overweight security guard unable to catch the unwanted fan, Lions defensive back Marcell Young took things into his own hands. Young took a couple of strides and flatten the likely intoxicated fan. While TSN, the CFL’s broadcast partner didn’t show the hit on TV, videos from fans at the games flooded social media with the hit.

Young leveled the fan, sending him backward several yards. Security and one of the referees had to peal the fan off of the turf. The fan struggled to get to his feet as other players on the Lions defense came over to congratulate Young for his hit.

After seven seasons in the CFL, two with Hamilton and the last five with Edmonton, Young signed with the Lions in the off-season. His hit on the fan brought the crowd out of their seats. The hit on the unwanted fan should make him a fan favorite this season.

Maybe it’s time for stadiums to start hiring security guards that are in better shape to catch fans who run on the field. Or maybe it’s time for some fans to start behaving better when they go to games.
