MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options has some new targets to focus on!

Hey everyone! Hope you had a chance to enjoy Father’s Day weekend. Are you ready for the next set of MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options? These pickups could help make or break your season grinding out the middle of the season.

It can be tough to keep up, but if you’re serious about winning, don’t give up now! Champions stay focused the entire season and gems can be found at any time.

For those of you that are new to MLB Fantasy “Waiver Wire Options” posts, check below to see how it works!

  • Regarding league-wide ownership, you will be provided the website(s) that applies to the player listed (i.e. Byron Buxton is 33.7% owned on ESPN and 56% owned on Yahoo!).
  • Stat line if it applies.  A rookie being called up to the bigs for the first time may not have a line yet.  In this scenario, you’ll find a description of their minor league stats.
  • Long-term or short-term help.  Some players listed may only help in short-term.  Others may fill long-term needs.

  • Advanced statistics to help determine potential success
  • This post features four targets that can fill a spot in your infield, outfield, or relief pitching. There is some real potential short and long term here with some ridiculous StatCast numbers. Make sure to check where your team is lacking statistically before blindly dipping into your waiver wire.

If you can find value in any of these options, then we’ve already succeeded. If for nothing at all, hope you enjoy the read!

SS David Fletcher LAA (ESPN 1.4% – Yahoo! 1%)

It remains to see if this rookie was a one game performer as he went 3 for 4 with a triple and two singles and two RBI. Major league experience is limited with only four  games to work off of. However, Fletcher has produced at the minor league level.

In AAA, Fletcher was working with a .350/.394/.625 slash line. If he can continue to earn playing time, he could reach double digit steals with his legs. Could also produce runs with a wRC+ of 173.

    C/1B John Hicks DET (ESPN 26.2% – Yahoo! 47%)

You might be a little late to the John Hicks party, but if he is still available, jump on board quick! It is Important to note that he’s playing 1B to replace the injured Miguel Cabrera with C eligibility.

Hicks boasts a .371 BABIP and makes hard contact 40.2% of the time. In the last 10 days, he’s showing the AVG potential of .360, with a season AVG of .288. In those 10 days as well, he boasts a .560 SLG and an impressive wOBA of .423.

    2B/OF Alen Hanson SF (ESPN 10.1% – Yahoo! 7%)

With Evan Longoria going down with injury, the door is open for Hanson to earn more playing time. The switch hitter has a little bit of power and speed with five home runs and three stolen bases in 29 games this year.

In 18 AAA games, he had three home runs and six stolen bases. Hanson’s underlying statistics are impressive as well with a .387 wOBA and 150 wRC+.

Keep in mind that the Giants still have Brandon Belt coming back from appendicitis and the ability to move Pablo Sandoval back to 3B, Hanson may be a platoon type guy. But with MI and OF eligibility, he has the ability to fill in all over the field.

    SP/RP Jordan Hicks STL (ESPN 13.3% – Yahoo! 15%)

A stat casters dream! The MLB StatCast Leaderboard finally has another name other than Aroldis Chapman under the fastest pitch tab. He is a must watch type pitcher. Hicks made his major league debut for the Cardinals in a relief spot this season and did not disappoint.

He throws easy cheese with a sinker and fastball that regularly sit in triple digits. What he has started doing lately is elevating the heater which is producing a lot of swing and misses. When contact is made, he isn’t giving up much with a BABIP of .196.

Hicks gets a lot of usage in high leverage situations as a late inning reliever. If you are looking for help with strike outs, innings pitched and ERA, this could be your savior.
