WWE Money in the Bank 2018 review: What we learned, takeaways, future projections

Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Roode vs. Braun Strowman vs. The Miz vs. Rusev vs. Finn Balor vs. Kofi Kingston
What we learned: We learned here that the Braun Strowman train isn’t slowing down anytime soon. I thought he might have been too easy of a pick to win the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match but I guess easy does it sometimes.
This was a little more chaotic than the Women’s Money in the Bank match earlier in the night but was just as good. After a fun tease for Big E and Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston was the New Day representative in the match and he played the Becky Lynch role here as the Chicago crowd was really behind him. Naturally, he provided some great spots throughout and still remains one of the most entertaining guys on the roster.
As for the big spots in the match, there were plenty to be had, starting with the awesomeness of Braun Strowman being covered in ladders at the top of the ramp in the early stages. Just when you thought they were going to stop, ladders just kept getting thrown on him, and it was really fun to watch. That also left some time for others to shine, and everyone got their turn to do something. The Miz played his role perfectly in trying to sneak in and grab the briefcase, and some of his facial expressions were gold. Rusev had the crowd with him as well, and the triple Accolade was great. Bobby Roode looked good in his Money in the Bank debut, and Finn Balor, also in his MITB debut, went aerial early and often, the biggest spot coming with his Coup de Grâce from the top of a ladder onto Roode.
Two guys I thought would be great with the briefcase, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe, also looked very good in this match. KO may have taken the biggest bump of the night when Strowman chucked him off the top of a very large ladder to a table below, a spot that looked great. As for Joe, he had his moments in there as well but everyone was going to be overshadowed by Strowman, and he was excellent as usual. Him running through the ladder on his way back to the ring may have been the funniest thing of the entire night, and his agility continues to astound. In the end, he climbed the ladder with Kofi on his back (great spot there) before chucking him off and grabbing the briefcase to become the biggest Mr. Money in the Bank in history. Fun match, even if I still think Styles/Nakamura should have closed the night.
What’s next: The announce team really wanted us to believe that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is going to have to watch his back at all times. Where? From his house? That’s the problem here. We have no idea when Lesnar is coming back. And will it be Reigns or Strowman that gets the shot? Or does Reigns finally conquer his nemesis to win the title and then have Strowman cash in on him? It’s interesting when a babyface has the briefcase as they try to be a bit more honorable with it instead of coming in when someone is down. Either way, at least we know now that Strowman is set up for a title run, which is what the majority of the WWE Universe has been waiting for.
Overall, this was a very entertaining show with a lot of positive things coming out of it. We’ll see you next month for WWE Extreme Rules.
