MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: June 19th
Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 15 games, with Colorado (6.5), the New York Yankees (5.5), Washington (5.3), and the New York Mets (5.1), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers available, like Chris Sale and Justin Verlander, finding value will be critical for success. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.
MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats
Manuel Margot – DK $3100, FD $2400
One interesting source of value could be outfielder, Manuel Margot. Only $3100 on DraftKings, Margot’s recent batted ball stats may indicate that big fantasy production is coming. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 52 feet, his exit velocity is up 9 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 20%, over his yearly average. Margot shouldn’t be highly owned, and we’ve already seen upward movement on the game total for this game. The total opened at 8 runs and is up a half of a run to where it currently stands, at 8.5 runs.
Batter Splits
Adam Eaton – DK $4300, FD $3800
Adam Eaton will draw an enticing matchup as he’ll face the righty, David Hess. Eaton is much better against right-handed pitching, as he holds a .457 wOBA split (.369 better than when facing a lefty) and a .239 ISO split (.239 better than when facing a lefty). Washington has one of the higher team totals on the slate and Eaton should benefit from batting in the lead off spot.

Giancarlo Stanton – DK $5000, FD $4400
If you have the salary to spend, consider Giancarlo Stanton, who will be on the good side of a righty vs. lefty split. Stanton will face off against the lefty, Marco Gonzales. Stanton is much better against left-handed pitching, with a .492 wOBA split (.108 better than when facing a righty) and a .420 ISO split (.101 better than when facing a righty).
Line Movement
New York Yankees’ Batters
New York will host the visiting Seattle Mariner’s tonight, in a game in which the Yankees opened as -155 favorites. This line has since moved towards the Yankees, to where it currently sits, at -178. In addition to the movement on the side, the total has also risen. The game total opened at 9 runs, but has since moved up an additional half run, to 9.5 total runs. With a game taking place in Coors Field tonight, this may be an opportunity to get Yankee batters at reduced ownership.
Stolen Base Upside
Whit Merrifield – DK $3900, FD $3100
Whit Merrifield will offer tremendous value on both sites tonight. Not only will he benefit at the plate, as he’ll face a lefty, but he’ll also benefit on the base paths. KC will take on the lefty Cole Hamels, who has been known to be susceptible to base runners. So far this year he’s allowed 10 stolen bases, over the course of 85.1 innings (7th most in the league). This should bode well for Merrifield, who has stolen 15 bases (5th most in the league).
