MLB Power Rankings: Astros look unstoppable, Dodgers roar back to life
The top few teams have been clear for a few weeks now, but here we can see how the rest of the MLB ranks with them so far this year.
30. Baltimore Orioles
Things looked like they might get on the right track for the Orioles after sweeping the Mets earlier in the month. Since then, they’ve only won 1 game, and it was against the lowly Marlins. The worst record in baseball and 1 win in their last 10 games is a recipe for a spot at the bottom of this week’s MLB power rankings.
29. Kansas City Royals
The Royals have 2 wins in June. One of their many losses was a 16-0 drubbing at the hands of the Athletics. Not much more needs to be said. It is time for the Royals to begin selling their best players and rebuilding for the future.
28. Chicago White Sox
The White Sox are not ready yet. There was thoughts that they would be after a series win over the Red Sox and a split with the Indians. Then, they went and got swept by the Tigers, stopping any chance they had of rising up the power rankings.
27. Texas Rangers
The most notable thing the Rangers did this week was get Matt Kemp ejected. Other than that, the only team they beat was the Rockies who have become a joke as of late. Even then, they gave up 23 runs in 3 games against the Rockies and they weren’t even in Denver. They’ve got to start beating some more notable teams and keeping runs off of the board.
26. New York Mets
Since May 20th, the Mets have the best starting ERA. Since May 20th, the Mets have just 8 wins, just 3 of which have come in June. The Mets salvaged last week with two wins against the Diamondbacks, but have still been awful as of late, falling out of the playoff race. It’s time they give up on this year.
