Fifth Round – No. 149: Riley Damiani (C)

He’s undersized at five-foot-nine and 161 pounds. He had 37 points in 64 games in the OHL. He was more consistent in the playoffs, posting 12 points in 19 games. He finished 100th among North American skaters in Central Scouting’s final rankings. Despite finishing higher than Jack St. Ivany, Damiani doesn’t have quite the same upside. He’s much more of a project and his lack of size may keep him from ever hitting the NHL.

Seventh Round – No. 209: Caleb Everett (D)

This picks comes to Toronto via Anaheim in the Jhonas Enroth deal. The Leafs love to spend their late round picks on defensemen from Canada. Everett fits the bill here. He’s six-foot-two and 185 pounds. He had 20 points in 58 games in the OHL. Like any player taken this late, there is work to be done. He could turn into a sixth or seventh defenseman in the NHL.

Seventh Round – No. 211: Eric Engstrand (W)

Engstrand is a power forward at 6-foot-4 and 198 pounds. He had 11 points in 31 games in the SuperElit league in Sweden. He has two-way upside. He’s a good skater who is aggressive on the forecheck. The Maple Leafs typically like to go with a European player in seventh round.

With two picks late in the seventh, I’d be surprised if they didn’t use one of them on a European forward.
