Antonio Callaway should absolutely be a mid-round steal for dynasty draft owners looking for the new Tyreek Hill

What’s better than owning Tyreek Hill? Owning the NEW Tyreek Hill, and getting him in the third round of your dynasty draft.

Meet new Cleveland Browns receiver Antonio Callaway.

When the dynasty rookie draft came around in 2016, and I had traded all my picks away except for the 8th overall, there was only one guy I had circled on my big board as a MUST pick: Tyreek Hill.

Hill was a 5th round draft pick with ALL the makings of an NFL superstar. Blazing speed, the ability to play out at receiver, and the versatility to get it done from the running back spot as well. With a sleek, slender (albeit slightly undersized) build at 5’9”, 185 lbs., any GM would love to have the kind of athleticism that Hill showed. But, he fell to day 3, because of his sordid history with the law, and suspension from the Oklahoma State football team. Most NFL front offices wouldn’t touch him after his guilty plea to domestic assault and battery. Lucky for me, I’m not an NFL front office. The rest is history.

So where does Callaway factor in???

Fast forward to 2018. The Cleveland Browns are attempting to build a winner. For, seemingly the 20th time. But something seems different about this Browns rebuild than in previous years. This year’s draft was orchestrated by John Dorsey, who built the team down in Kansas City that drafted Hill in 2016. Dorsey was also assisted by Scot McCloughan, who built Super Bowl teams in San Francisco and Seattle. These two men put together what should be the most successful draft the Cleveland Browns have had this century.

When I asked McCloughan to compare Callaway to Dorsey’s previous pick of Hill, this is what he said:

Callaway doesn’t have the blistering 4.25 combine 40 yard dash number that Hill has. But he plays quicker than his 4.41 40 time, and at 5’11” 200 lbs., has better size and will hold up better than Hill. As far as pure athletes go, he may be the best one in the 2018 draft. The Browns might not use him in as gimmicky of a role as Hill, lining up in the backfield and all over the place, but Callaway should emerge as a strong slot receiver, and eventual speedy replacement to Josh Gordon.

So why did he fall to day 3 of the draft if he’s so talented? Legal issues, and a suspension from his college football team.

Sound familiar?

So when the late 3rd or early 4th round of your rookie draft comes this summer, take the guy who’s going to burn AFC North defenses for years to come. Take Antonio Callaway.
