Some teams have dissapointed us so far this season, and should be better than they’re playing.

We’ve reached June, and with the All-Star break right around the corner we know who’s real and who’s not. But who are the teams that should be playing better than they are?

Once you reach June in the MLB season things have started to shape out pretty well. You know which teams are real, and which ones are pretenders. The elite teams start to separate themselves from the pack while the bottom teams start to find out which guys are their best trade chips.

Somewhere in the middle are the teams that should be playing better, but for some reason aren’t. The teams that will reel off five or six in a row and then somehow lose four of five the next week. All is not lost as it’s only June, but these teams might want to pick up the pace before they fall off.

There are a few teams that have left a little bit more to be desired at this point in the season. So let’s take a look at five teams that really should be playing better than they are in no particular order.

5. Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2009. People will contend that the only reason they made the playoffs was that, you know, Coors. That’s really not the case because their pitchers were really outstanding last season.

That pitching held them over while the offense tried to find their groove. This season has been a totally different story. In the offseason, the Rockies addressed the bullpen in a big way. They brought in Wade Davis, Bryan Shaw, and Jake McGee.

All fantastic signings and any GM would be smart to go after these guys. The only problem is that they’ve all been pretty awful for the majority of the season. The Rockies have the second worst bullpen in baseball, and there’s no sign of them righting the ship right now.

They recently had an absolute meltdown in Texas this past Sunday when they managed to give up seven runs in four innings of work against the Rangers. They entered the ninth inning with a 12-9 lead and ended up losing 12-13 thanks to a walk-off single.

If the Rockies don’t fix this bullpen that they’ve invested a ton of money in quickly they’ll be in danger of falling too far off the pace and missing the playoffs.
