All comments from Favors suggest he plans on returning to Utah. Simply put, he likes the city and his teammates. Utah also holds his Bird Rights, so he’s not going to count against the cap. Therefore, they can compensate him for his services. His talents and skillset also add a great deal of insurance in case something happens to Rudy Gobert’s long limbs.
Stability and winning are difficult to find. They are also difficult to sustain. But Donovan Mitchell is just taking off, and it would be difficult to walk away from the opportunity of playing with such a young and talented core at this juncture in one’s career, especially when the benefits between the team and the individual appear to be mutual and there are no other surefire options for improvement available to either side.

Now, if Golden State were to call, then maybe Salt Lake City starts to look like some remote outpost on the fringes of civilization.
