Ichiro was caught rocking a fake mustache so he could sneak in and watch the Mariners take on the Yankees from the dugout.

Ichiro started the year on the Seattle Mariners roster. At age 44, he earned himself 15 games at the Major League level this year before he was assigned to a front office position since he was struggling on the field.

Ichiro still travels with the team wherever they go. He takes part in batting practice and fielding practice similar to how a coach would, but once BP is over he has to reside back to the clubhouse until the game is over.

Yesterday, Ichiro had other ideas. As the Mariners took on the Yankees at Yankee Stadium Ichiro decided he wanted a better view instead of watching the game on television. He donned a fake mustache and went and sat on the bench.

Sporting a hood and fake mustache, Ichiro sat on the bench for the early parts of the game. With his impressive batting history maybe he just wanted to give the M’s some pointers as the game went along.

Ichiro did play as a member of the Yankees from 2012, after he was traded from Seattle, through the 2014 season. Perhaps he wanted one last look at the stadium he played in during his late 30’s.

Ichiro didn’t officially retire, and rumor has it he wants to stick around with the Mariners and play in their two-game series in Japan to kick off the 2019 season before calling it quits. That would be a huge storyline and if he feels up to it, it’s something that should absolutely happen.

Until then, be on the lookout for Ichiro out on the field before games and potentially in the dugout doing his best Bobby Valentine impression. This wasn’t an original idea from Ichiro, but still effective and comical nonetheless.
