Joel Embiid already put Deandre Ayton on a poster
Joel Embiid dunks on Deandre Ayton, proving the No. 1 pick isn’t the rim protector Chauncey Billups made him out to be.
Tired of dunking on kids at the playground, Joel Embiid returned to twitter to dunk on number one overall pick Deandre Ayton.
Following the Phoenix Suns drafting of Ayton, ESPN broadcast Chauncey Billups gave his player comparison for Ayton. All of them were bad, but only one got a rookie in serious trouble. Billups compared Ayton to Sixers star Embiid, praising the Arizona standout for his defense presence.
Only problem? Well, I’ll let Embiid explain.
Ayton and Embiid share a similar body type and athleticism, but the knock on Ayton leading up to the draft has been his lack of defensive awareness. Meanwhile, Embiid made the second-team All-Defense and is nominated for Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.
Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green had Embiid’s back.
It’s unclear whether the Warriors forward is crowning Embiid’s defense or Twitter game, but both are strong. Either way, Embiid wants to be the greatest.
Ayton has yet to comment on twitter, which is a smart move on his part. He’s been in the league less than 24 hours. He doesn’t want smoke with Embiid this early in his career. At least sign that first contract before you come at the king.

Sadly, the Suns and 76ers play just twice in the regular season. But if you were on the fence about watching a Phoenix game, this should give you a bit of incentive. There’s a 100 percent chance Embiid tries to dunk on Ayton at some point during the game. Since Ayton is not the rim protector Billups made him out to be, there’s a 100 percent chance the dunk results in two points for the 76ers.
