1. Philadelphia Phillies

Morosi also reported the Phillies have interest in Beltre. With a combined .235/.300/.399 batting line and well below par defense from their third baseman entering this weekend’s series against the Washington Nationals, it’s easy to see why.

J.P. Crawford is out for the next month or so with a broken hand, and on Sunday morning Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Fox Sports reported the San Diego Padres are interested in perpetual underachiever Maikel Franco.

Dealing Franco, and ridding themselves of that source of frustration within the organization, would clearly open a spot for Beltre at third base.

As they look to legitimately stay near the top of the National League East (1.5 games back going into Sunday) and in the second Wild Card spot with three teams trailing them by less than three games, the Phillies could use a veteran presence like Beltre.
