Joel Embiid wants to win an NBA championship, and he believes bringing LeBron James to the Sixers is the way to make it happen.

LeBron James has already stated that he won’t be listening to any big-time free agency pitches. But that doesn’t mean Joel Embiid, superstar center for the Philadelphia 76ers, won’t be heavily campaigning for King James to bring his talents to the City of Brotherly Love.

Sixers fans have been “trusting the process” for years now, but bringing the greatest basketball player of this generation to Philadelphia would essentially complete the process once and for all. LeBron would possibly make the Sixers the favorite to win the Eastern Conference in 2019, and would escalate the already resurfacing rivalry between Philadelphia and Boston to resemble the good old days, when Julius Erving and Larry Bird were going at each other’s throats.

Would a Sixers lineup that features James, Embiid, Ben Simmons, and possibly Markelle Fultz — the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft — be good enough to win a playoff series against a Celtics team that will feature Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown?

Going even further, would that team be good enough to defeat Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals?

Embiid believes that the Sixers can get the job done if LeBron joins them, and he’s ready to make it happen.

“He’s the best player in the league at this moment, so I think he takes us to another level, which is important because at the end of the day, I want to be a champion,” Embiid said, according to USA Today. “I want to do it myself. I want to have a lot to do with winning a championship or bringing a championship back to the city of Philadelphia.”

Even if LeBron does join the Sixers and helps lead them to a title, there’s no doubt Embiid would still play a huge role in winning that championship. He and Simmons are the future of the franchise, and Embiid has a chance to become the best big man in the NBA. Only time will tell, but a core three of LeBron, Embiid and Simmons might be what could finally end Golden State’s run of dominance.

But in order for that to happen, LeBron would have to opt out of his final year with the Cleveland Cavaliers and hit the free agent market. We’ll find out in less than a week whether or not LeBron wants to do it.
