Argentina legend Maradona rushed to hospital
Argentina booked their ticket to the knockout round of the World Cup earlier today. Unfortunately, a team legend is in the hospital after celebrating the result.
The World Cup is the largest international soccer tournament and only comes around every four years. As such, the stakes are pretty high. The stakes are even higher when the team has arguably the greatest soccer player ever on the field. Lionel Messi and his countrymen earned a spot in the knockout round of the tournament with a narrow victory over Nigeria. Despite their lackluster beginning to the tournament, the South American giants are moving on.
However, with the good news comes some more concerning news. Diego Maradona, the legendary Argentinian soccer star, was rushed to a hospital after the game. Video surfaced of him looking faint and stumbling, needing help to make it out of the stands.
The television broadcast showed Maradona celebrating throughout the match, but the best parts came after the game was final. The highlight was undoubtedly the broadcast catching him showing the middle finger to…well everyone. It was a huge victory for his country, and as any die-hard fan would, Maradona went a little too far.
At 57 years old his body is clearly not what it once was, but there have been no health issues to surface recently. Regardless of past health, something is wrong and hopefully everything will work itself out. If something were to happen to such a big icon of the game, the nation of Argentina and the world of soccer would be crushed.
Next: Argentina's great escape
Maradona is best known for the “Hand of God” moment in the 1986 World Cup that helped Argentina defeat England. Argentina, more so Maradona, went on to hoist the trophy that year. Soccer icon is putting it lightly when describing him, hopefully all of this will be resolved quickly.
