3. Will Barton

Chasing Barton is probably more of risk than either Evans or Hezonja. Because of the team’s familiarity with Evans, the groundwork for negotiations is almost certainly in existence before free agency begins. Hezonja will be pursued by other teams, but not to the same extent as Barton. Barton’s name will consistently be one of the first to surface once all the top market stars remove themselves from free agent waters.

However, Barton most likely will cost two to three times more than Hezonja on the open market. Many of the same teams pursuing Evans will also be pursuing Barton. With very little difference in ages and one player somewhat more recognizable to the average fan, it will be interesting to see how the future signings of Evans and Barton do and do not resemble one another.
