The New York Yankees are one of the favorites to represent the American League in the World Series. Now they’re looking to add to their rotation to help their chances.

The New York Yankees are actually down two starting pitchers at the moment. Jordan Montgomery is going to miss the rest of the season after needing Tommy John surgery.

Masahiro Tanaka is still recovering from his hamstring injury that he suffered while running the bases against the New York Mets.

Even when Tanaka returns to the rotation, the Yankees are going to need another starter. Of course if the Yankees are going to add another starter they’re definitely going to look to add a top-end starter.

According to Kevin Davidoff and George King of the New York Post, the Yankees are eyeing not only the Mets’ Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard, but also the Detroit Tigers’ Michael Fulmer as well.

Syndergaard is currently on the disabled list with a finger injury, but deGrom is having a Cy Young-type of season. Fulmer is struggling this season with a 3-7 record with a 4.20 ERA on the season. Even with his struggles he is still the ace of that staff and is still a pretty good pitcher.

The Yankees are currently a game back of the Boston Red Sox after their off day on Thursday. The AL East is in all likelihood going to come down to the final weeks of the season and the addition of one of those three guys could be the difference between a division title and a wild card spot.

There have been rumblings that the Mets would want Gleyber Torres in any type of deal for deGrom. Obviously enough the Yankees are in no way parting with Torres or Miguel Andujar in any kind of deal, but if they find a way to get Syndergaard that wouldn’t be a bad consolation.

We’re a little over a month away from the trade deadline, so expect things to heat up pretty soon.
