Uh oh, emoji battle 2.0 may be incoming as All-Star center DeAndre Jordan is once again a free agent.

Everyone who pays attention to the NBA remembers the DeAndre Jordan to the Mavericks debacle from a few years back. Back in 2015 Jordan had agreed to join Dallas, then, all of a sudden, he changed his mind.

That situation still remains as one of the biggest head-scratchers in recent NBA history, and will live on in infamy for a long time.

Now three years later, Jordan may once again be on track to join famous owner Mark Cuban in Dallas. As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, Jordan is opting out of his player option that would guarantee him $24.1 million next year.

Just days after the Clippers sent guard Austin Rivers to the Washing Wizards for center Marcin Gortat, Jordan announces his decision. Coincidence? I think not.

It is no surprise that Jordan is attempting to secure a deal with the Mavericks, but the two sides are not allowed to discuss and finalize a deal until July. However, it seems like all but a guarantee that Jordan will finally live up to his word, despite taking three years to do so.

The Mavericks have space for Jordan, and if they need more, have some expendable contracts they could dump. Despite being 30 years old when the season will start, Jordan seemingly has a lot of good basketball left in him. Actually, he set a career-high with 15.2 rebounds per game this season in Los Angeles.

Both the Clippers and Mavericks are rebuilding their rosters. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and now Jordan are all now in different cities, while in Dallas, the team is preparing for their post -irk Nowitzki reality. Adding Jordan alongside Dennis Smith Jr. and Yogi Ferrell will hopefully make the team more competitive.

All signs are pointing toward Jordan being a Maverick next season, but as we have seen, literally anything is possible.
