LeBron James has decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers, but he’ll be a ‘Cav For Life’ no matter what.

It took less than 24 hours for the Summer of LeBron to come to an end, kind of. Rather than drag out the process of choosing where he wants to go, LeBron James announced on Sunday that he was taking his talents to Los Angeles.

For the first time ever, LeBron James will play in the Western Conference — against significantly better competition and without the promise of returning to the Finals. You could argue that his move to L.A. is an answer to the questions raised by doubters about how he would fare against a playoff path that wasn’t a total cakewalk.

We’re about to find out, but that’s all in the future. Right now, Cleveland is dealing with a reality of losing it’s superstar legend for the second time ever.

Unlike the first time he left back in 2010, no one is really blaming LeBron. Jerseys will be burned by nicompoops, as is always the case, but the general consensus is that there was no way LeBron could win in Cleveland and he needed a change.

That doesn’t mean his legacy with the Cavaliers is tainted. In fact, it’s quite the opposite: LeBron leaving a second time under less dramatic circumstances assures he’ll be a Cav For Life. He brought the city a title, he gave us all memories and moments we will never forget or fail to cherish — nor should we.

It’s not his fault that his return to Cleveland was sullied by the rise of the greatest NBA team in modern history.

Mark Carman, who routinely breaks out into song at the FanSided office for no reason in particular, put his talents to use in reminding the world that LeBron will always be a Cav.

It’s goofy, it’s wild, but that’s the life we live with LeBron James. Nothing is ever subtle with him, even something as small as cropping out a teammate on Instagram is a loud statement.

But before you burn a jersey or slander LeBron for leaving, just remember what he did for Cleveland and how much he’ll always mean. You can take LeBron out of the Cavs, but you can never totally divorce the two.

LeBron is a Cav for Life.
