It’s time to admit the Mets should trade Jacob deGrom to the Yankees

The New York Yankees are a juggernaut in the American League, could they add a new arm to their staff?
The Yankees have battled it out with the Boston Red Sox for the top spot in the AL East all season. With that said, they need the fire power to put them over the top. With Sonny Gray still struggling, is it time to make a trade? Specifically, could the club pursue ace Jacob deGrom?
Yes. Although he plays for the cross town rival New York Mets, there is always the possibility with the Yankees. They have tons of depth in their farm system to get any player they want. Looking into it, would the Mets really pull a trade with the Yanks? If they can get back a couple stud prospects and maybe an MLB-ready arm, then yes.
DeGrom has been masterful this season, he just hasn’t gotten enough run support to get the Ws. He has tossed a 1.84 in 107.1 innings, which usually results in more than 5 wins. But, the Mets have been underwhelming offensively, so he is getting no help there. Yankees GM Brian Cashman has called up the Mets in his goal of acquiring a starting pitcher. He has all the resources to make something happen, it just depends if the Mets are willing to make a cross town deal.
For the Mets, the club should trade deGrom. If they can get what they want for Noah Syndergaard, they should do that as well. Their farm system is in dire need of a boost and the duo doesn’t deserve to be wasted on this team. Their innings could be utilized on a contending team. Ownership did make some deals in free agency, but other than that, there has been little to no involvement in the team’s competitive ability.

The Yankees are World Series contenders already, but if they can add a top tier arm, look out Houston Astros. It sounds like a pipe dream for deGrom, but it could be a reality in the near future. Overall, the New York clubs should get together for a deal, despite what their fanbases might think. Last year, the clubs had a hard time matching up, but the teams no what ways they need to go. Mets start a rebuild, while the Yankees strut into their next great team and become a dynasty. We will see very soon.
