Oklahoma City took a huge risk in trading for Paul George this time last season, but that risk has paid off and George is staying in OKC.

The Oklahoma City Thunder took a lot of heat after their early playoff exit last season, and people wondered whether Paul George would resign with the Thunder. There’s good news in Oklahoma City though.

Russell Westbrook threw a huge party with Nas for Paul George in Oklahoma, and apparently it was to celebrate George staying. The Thunder didn’t make the same mistake they did with Kevin Durant. They did not let Paul George out of their sight from the moment they brought him in from Indiana.

No other team even got a meeting with George. The Lakers who were so invested into trying to bring him to try and lure LeBron James in as well didn’t even get a meeting with the small forward.

Back to that party though. Apparently this party is the party to be at, and oh, by the way all attendees had to sign a non-disclosure agreement upon entrance.

I, for one, would be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement, and never speak a word about this party to just get in the door. Smart move by Westbrook to make them sign a NDA so they don’t leak the news.

The four-year deal caught some reporters off guard assuming that George would sign a 1+1 or a 2+1 contract.

If the Thunder were able to resign George the feeling was that they would do so at the expense of Jerami Grant. That was not the case as the Thunder got to keep both.

Even Brian Windhorst who is joining Rachel Nichols and others on The Jump’s free agency special on Saturday night was in complete shock that George took this deal.

I wouldn’t say Windhorst ripped the contract. I think he was more in shock about the length of the deal. Everyone thought he’d do the short deal, but that’s not the case and George will be around for at least the next three years.

Next: It turns out Westbrooks party was a PG celebration party

Hopefully Windhorst has had a solid minute to digest everything that’s happened.
