1. Jose Altuve, SS/Houston Astros

Finally, we’ve reached the most likely option for 2018 MLB All-Star Game MVP. His name is Jose Altuve, and while he may not be the biggest player in the game, his bat would tell you completely otherwise.

Altuve absolutely uncorked on the All-Star voting, receiving the largest number of votes in MLB HISTORY! For those of you keeping score at home, that’s a lot of votes. And he continues to rack up honors along the way. The Houston Astros won the World Series a season ago, and they apparently seem set on making people believe they have a shot at repeating. Altuve has been a solid part of that production.

Now the early thought, now that we know the rosters have been revealed, is that Bryce Harper would be the odds-on favorite to win the All-Star MVP Award. But so help me…if Altuve finds a pitch or two he likes, he’ll hit a ball so hard it’ll come back with a passport. And he’s not exactly horrible with the glove either. So unless Harper goes 0-for-4 or Scherzer just gets throttled on the mound, this is probably the logical vote for MVP.

Just a quick reminder, the 2018 MLB Home Run Derby (presented by T-Mobile), will be on Monday, July 16 and will air on ESPN. The actual All-Star Game itself will be on Tuesday night. And it will likely have its own share of fireworks. Also, be sure to check out other content here on FanSided, as you’ll find roster breakdowns, snubs, and a whole lot more.
