The New York Yankees are definitely buyers at the trade deadline. Who they give up to get somebody is definitely up for debate.

The New York Yankees are currently hovering at 30 games over .500, and they’ve looked great all season. Still, that doesn’t mean they won’t find some way to make their team better in preparation for the playoffs.

The team has reportedly looked at starting pitching and the possibility of adding All-Star infielder Manny Machado. Any addition would help them in the short term, but who they’d have to give up to get someone is a different story.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has made it pretty clear that he isn’t trading prized rookie Gleyber Torres. There have been possible rumors of the Yankees possibly parting ways with Miguel Andujar to accommodate a trade for a high lever pitcher, but Cashman has made it very clear that isn’t happening either.

Not only has Cashman said no to any deals involving him this year, but he’s said no every season since he was in Double-A. That actually says a lot about how highly Cashman and the Yankees think of their third baseman.

Andujar was called up early in the season and hasn’t disappointed at all. Right now he has a slash line of .282/.318/500 in 81 games this season. If not for his teammate Torres, Andujar would probably be in the front of the pack in Rookie of the Year voting.

Next: It's time to start respecting the Atlanta Braves

If the Yankees want to make a deal at the deadline, it will have to revolve around guys that aren’t Torres, Andujar or Justus Sheffield. If the Yankees were to make a deal for Machado, they would most likely play him at third, which would take time away from Andujar.

Who knows, maybe the Yankees are better off going after pitching at the deadline and keeping their position players as is. With only a couple weeks until the deadline, we will see how everything plays out.
