The fifth annual Kids Choice Sports Awards airs on Nickelodeon tonight, and you can’t afford to miss the celebrities and slime.
A new host will emerge this year after three-time host Russell Wilson passed the slimy torch. Houston Rockets Point Guard Chris Paul will replace the veteran host. The rookie even appears on the nomination list in Nothing But Net and Clutch Player of the Year.
Michael Strahan hosted the very first show back in 2014. Both of the past hosts will be in attendance this year among other veteran and new guests.
The show and red carpet was taped earlier this week on Thursday, July 19. Now we get to catch all the action from the athletic VIPs and see if our votes went to the winners.
Kids could vote for their favorites in every category up until the taping on KCS2018.com. Some of the categories remain typical including MVP, Favorite Female/Male Athlete and Play of the Year. Other categories are a little more outside of the box including Queen/King of Swag and Don’t Try This at Home.
A multitude of famous athletes scored nominations. Stanley Cup MVP Alex Ovechkin, Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and tennis star Serena Williams are among the nominees.
Danica Patrick will also be honored at the ceremony after receiving the Legend Award. The racing icon hosted the 2018 ESPY Awards earlier this week on Wednesday and was the first female host of the ESPYs, another feat to add to her legendary career.
