NBA Summer League provides the first opportunity for recent draft picks to either live up to the massive expectations of fans or to start sowing the first seeds of doubt.

Right now, Bulls fans are giddy Wendell Carter fell to them; the Knicks are convinced they got a steal with Kevin Knox; Hawks fans maybe got a little nervous the team passed on Luka Doncic for Trae Young after his first couple games in Utah; and Kings fans, well, they’ve grown accustomed to a certain level of disappointment.

Not to say we are giving up on Marvin Bagley after a spotty spart. Summer League success or failure doesn’t determine how a player will fare in the NBA, but it is still another tool to evaluate prospects. So to help figure out just how meaningful the good and bad performances were, Cole Zwicker (@colezwicker) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast.

Cole is the co-founder of The Stepien and appears on the Ode to Oden and Game Theory podcasts. On this episode, he helps review most of the first round picks, several second round picks, plus other notable players.

Who was he most impressed with? Which of his pre-draft sleepers validated his belief in them? Do any teams already have buyer’s remorse with their picks? How concerned should we be about the guys who shot under 30 percent? And which free agents earned themselves the most money?
