3. Adam Jones to the Astros

The Astros at it again! Last year it was Justin Verlander, now, they’ll improve their outfield too. The Astros have Marwin Gonzalez in left field right now, and he’s had an awful year after a breakout 2017 season. Outside of Geroge Springer, their outfield is very average, so Jones can sure up one of the only holes of the team.

Adam Jones is a five-time All-Star with the Baltimore Orioles, but as we know they’re going into a massive rebuild. With Jones on the last year of his deal, it makes sense for them to move on from him.

Jones is purely a rental, but he can help play any of the three outfield positions and providing a solid bat. Each of the last nine years he’s hit 19 home runs or more, and if he hits nine in the second half it’ll be a decade in a row.

Jones isn’t the same player he once was, but he can still hit and provide a solid glove in the field.

As for Baltimore, they get two prospects back in the deal. Rogelio Armenteros is a 23-year-old Cuban pitcher. He’s 7-0 with a 3.38 ERA in AAA this year, and would likely be on a MLB roster if the ‘Stros rotation wasn’t so stacked.

They’re also getting Christian Javier who is a 20-year-old pitcher who was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2015. Between A and high A ball, Javier has a 1.91 ERA in 18 games this year. He can start or come out of the bullpen, whichever the Orioles prefer. Javier is likely a year or two away but has the makings of being a solid MLB pitcher.
