Welcome to the first installment of our new daily series, a MLB DFS Cheat Sheet for Draftkings.  Each article will include a Cheat Sheet followed by a corresponding slate summary to help assist players in constructing optimal lineups.

"First off, a “Cheat Sheet” when it comes to DFS should never be used as the sole guage when it comes to breaking down a slate. There is no substitute to extensive research and analysis collected from multiple platforms. However, a cheat sheet is primarily a great concise form of reference. It’s best used as an introductory guide in grasping an idea of your potential targets. Not to mention it’s very viable in constructing an initial build. Our MLB Daily DFS “Cheat Sheet” will list our projected top player at each position at three different price points, which will be labeled as “Tiers”. Each player listed will be paired with his current price and stats from their past 7 games including their Draftkings FPPG(fantasy points per game) over that span as well. Now enjoy our first MLB DFS “Cheat Sheet” for Draftkings Monday 7/23 Slate  *Note: All stats provided by MLB.com and Pro Baseball Reference"

MLB DFS Cheat Sheet: Slate Summary

Today’s Monday slate is a rather interesting one with 13 games. There’s storms expected across the northeast today, so that is something worth paying attention to as the day goes on. As of now delays are more than likely but PPD risk remains cautiously low for now.

Jacob deGrom, who will have his start pushed back to today because of last night’s PPD, will join Luis Severino and Corey Kluber as the aces of the night. All 3 are in fantastic spots, but due to the potential weather issues in New York, I am leaning Severino over deGrom, especially in pitcher friendly Tropicana Field.

Pairing a pitcher with Severino’s high price tag might deem to be to difficult unless you’re punting at some positions. Also I currently do not like any of the minimally priced pitchers on Draftkings tonight, some are only making spot starts that might turn into a “bullpen day” while the others are in less than ideal matchups.

However I am on Sean Newcomb as a GPP play, despite his recent lack of control and strikeout % way down. He still possesses a 24.2% K rate against the Marlins in his career with a .170 batting average against.

So if there was ever a time for Newcomb to get his season back on track, it’s today against a Marlins lineup that I still don’t respect. Also the Braves go up against Jose Urena, which sets up a win opportunity for Newcomb as well.

As for hitting my 3 favorite stacks are Texas righties against LHP Brett Anderson, Cleveland lefties against RHP Trevor Williams, and Blue Jays righties against LHP Adalberto Mejia. My two favorite cheap bats on the day are Adrian Beltre and Kole Calhoun. Rostering both will definitely help in providing salary relief to fit an expensive ace and/or higher priced bats.

Beltre sports a .368 average with a .737 SLG against Anderson to go along with 2 homers in 19 at bats against. Kole is on fire this July with 7 homers and a .755 SLG,  and now gets a plus match up against RHP Lucas Giolito. Now go make that winning lineup!
