5 teams who could trade for Teddy Bridgewater
1. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins also have a question mark at quarterback going forward, but for a different reason. Ryan Tannehill missed all of last season with a torn left ACL, and his issue with that knee dates back to when he was originally injured late in the 2016 campaign. He’s got three years left on his contract, with dead money to be carried if he’s cut, but the Dolphins need to see the best of what Tannehill has this year or he could be gone.
Jay Cutler was an easy fallback for the Dolphins around this time last year, due to his tie to head coach Adam Gase. But he’s not coming back, for better or worse, and the trio of Brock Osweiler, Bryce Petty and David Fales currently fills out the depth chart. Barring another injury, they are no threat to usurp Tannehill.
Miami had interest in quarterback prospects during the pre-draft process this year. They may very well have that interest again in 2019 if Tannehill struggles to stay healthy, or he just plays poorly over a full 16 games this year.
It wouldn’t take much for Bridgewater to be an immediate upgrade over Osweiler, Petty or Fales. As a Miami native the Dolphins could be a preferred landing spot for him, as much as he might have input in where the Jets would trade him. There is also some chance to compete for a starting job in 2019.
