The Heisman Trophy is college football’s ultimate individual award. Here is what to know about when the presentation is.

One of the biggest events fans look forward to every college football season is the presentation of the Heisman Trophy. The award is given to the most outstanding player in the country. Sports journalists and past Heisman winners vote on this Trophy each year.

As with a great movie, there is always a big buildup to the presentation. The voting ballots will be distributed on Nov. 19 with a Dec. 3 voting deadline. That same day, the finalists are announced. On Dec. 8 the whole country will know the winner during the annual Heisman Trophy presentation at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

Last year Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield took home the award. The senior led the Sooners to a Big 12 title and a berth in the College Football Playoff at the Rose Bowl. In April, Mayfield was drafted number one overall by the Cleveland Browns.

For 2018, a few finalists will return looking to grab that trophy. Stanford running back Bryce Love came in second place in the voting and will return for his senior year. Also returning is Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor, who finished sixth in last year’s voting.

Another player who was in the conversation was UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton, who finished eighth in the final voting. Milton will return for his junior season after leading the Golden Knights to an undefeated season.

While Love is certainly the favorite to win the award this year, the trophy is still up for grabs with the past two winners now in the NFL. Names such as Arizona’s Khalil Tate, Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins have popped up on watch lists early and will right in the thick of the conversation.

The world will know who joins this prestigious fraternity on Dec. 8.
