Saquon Barkley. . team. 31. . Running Back.

Heading into the 2017 season, many believed the New York Giants would be one of the teams to beat in the NFC. They were coming off a playoff season the year before, and with arguably the best wide receiver in the game, the thought was they would overtake Dallas for the top spot in the NFC East.

Well, unfortunately for Giants fans, they had the absolute worst head coach in football, and the team had one of their worst seasons in recent memory. Head coach Ben McAdoo even went so far as to bench Eli Manning for no reason, inserting Geno Smith into the starting lineup, and ending Manning’s consecutive games streak.

The page has been turned in New York, and with Manning back as the starter, the team should be much better than their three-win season from a year ago. The front office did a nice job bringing in some talent on the offensive line, and with their first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft,  they nabbed one of the best running back prospects we have seen in a long time.

That man is Saquon Barkley, who burst onto the scene as a true freshman for the Penn State Nittany Lions and never looked back. Many wanted the Giants to pick a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick this past April, but they went with Barkley, and the hope is he is the missing puzzle piece on an offense that should be pretty explosive this season.

Barkley can do it all from his running back position, and is deadly in the run, pass, and return game even. The Giants have the pieces in place to make a run towards a division title this season, but the record is daunting, and they have the defending Super Bowl champs in their way.
