4. Do the Avalanche have enough depth?

How much depth do the Avalanche really have coming into the 2018-2019 season? It’s always good to have depth at all positions. There seems to always be injuries and you need to have adequate replacements. That was a struggle for the Avalanche last season.

At times last season, the Avalanche struggled to find replacements for injured players. The third and fourth lines were a struggle. Options are nice to have and be able to turn to at any time. They seem to have depth at the forward position. But defense and goalie are another story.

They also lost players like Blake Comeau in free agency. He was one of the players they counted on, especially on the third line. They will have to find ways to replace him and his production.

The players they do have are very young. It can be hard to ask a young player to fill the shoes for a veteran player, such as when Erik Johnson went down last season. They had a hard time trying to replace him. The depth could be in question at positions like defenseman and goalie. But at the forward position, they are stacked.

There is never such thing as too much depth in hockey. The Avalanche have questions as far having players to use all season. We will see what they have in store for this year.
